Topography
Doi Luang national park is lying in three provinces: Chaing Rai, Phayao and Lam Pang. It became the 61th national park of Thailand on the 16th May 1990. Covering an area of about 1,170 square kilometers, its mountains are the watershed areas for Wang and Loa rivers. The park contains tropical evergreen, mixed deciduous and dipterocarp forests.

Tourist attractions
Poo Kaeng waterfall: Turn west into the side road at Ban Poo Kaeng on Chaing Rai - Phayao highway (route no. 1) and drive for about 8 km, you will reach the 9 levels limestone waterfall with many caves. Water flows all year round.

Cham Pa Thong waterfall: Turn west into the side road at km 7 on Chaing Rai - Phayao highway (before arriving Phayao) and drive for about 16 km to the towering waterfall. This waterfall resembles the head of an elephant.

Wang Kaew waterfall: A limestone waterfall which is higher than Poo Kaeng waterfall.

Accommodations and facilities
Doi Luang national park has nature trails, campground (visitors have to bring their own tent and equipment), a small shop, a visitor center and restrooms.

How to get there
To get to Doi luang national park take the Phayao - Chiang Rai highway to an intersection at Ban Poo Kaeng. Follow the side road (to the west) for 8 km to the park's headquarters.
